The Governing Committee of the Barcelona City Council has approved the executive project to install photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Sant Jordi Club.
This installation, intended solely for self-consumption, will reduce the generation of greenhouse gases from all the facilities of the Anella Olímpica (Olympic Ring) and start the path towards energy self-sufficiency. It is also an important step in the commitment of Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (B:SM) to reduce CO2 generation in all its buildings. The photovoltaic installation to be located on the roof of the Sant Jordi Club consists of 896 photovoltaic modules with a power of 430 kW. It will occupy a total area of 2,300 m2 and will generate 655,000 kWh per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 200 homes in the city.
The photovoltaic installation of the Sant Jordi Club has a budget of 610,000 euros and will be ready in less than a year.
