The Anella Olímpica, recognized in a UN's CSR report for promoting sustainable mobility
2024-06-27 09:38:44

The UN has recognized the Anella Olímpica for its work in promoting sustainable mobility in mass events. This is indicated in the latest report of the Global Compact, the UN's business sustainability initiative, on the contribution of business to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. In this way, the Palau Sant Jordi and the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium reaffirm their commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 11 and 13, corresponding to "Sustainable Cities and Communities" and "Climate Action", respectively.

For the last few years the Anella Olímpica has been working on designing and developing measures to promote sustainable mobility so that the public can reach the events organized at the venues by alternative means of transport to the private vehicle. Thus, communication campaigns are periodically organized to inform the public on how to get to the venues in a sustainable way before each concert, event or festival. Specifically, it promotes the use of public transport or transfers on foot and recommends the use of the bus, Metro, Funicular or FGC stops closest to the Parc de Montjuïc. In addition, he recalls the reinforcement of bus line 150 between Plaça d'Espanya and Castell de Montjuïc and the implementation of a special TMB shuttle bus service between the Olympic Stadium and Plaça d'Espanya during the concert days. During these days, the mechanical stairs of the Parc de Montjuïc will also be open for longer hours.

Thanks to these measures, the use of private vehicles as a means of transport to reach the facilities has been reduced in recent years, thus promoting fluid mobility and reducing pollutant emissions. According to the latest ISC report (Client Satisfaction Index) of the Olympic Ring, 29.6% of users arrive by public transport and positively value the convenience of this option.
