“NO CALLEM” protocol (“We won’t keep quiet”)
Barcelona City Council, through the Department of Feminism and LGTBI, implemented the protocol in response to data from the latest survey on gender-based violence in Catalonia (2016), which showed that violent and non-violent groping occurs above all in public places, on transport and in leisure spac
In order to prevent and reduce these aggressions, and with the co-responsibility of the nightlife business sector, Barcelona City Council provided venues and festivals with training and communication tools. Palau Sant Jordi and Estadi Olímpic joined the "No callem" protocol by committing to having staff who are sensitised and trained on what sexual harassment or aggression is and how to act in the event of sexual harassment or aggression. This training was provided by the Department of Feminism and LGTBI.
In addition to these instructions and training, the venue and festivals participating in the protocol are committed to a list of preventive actions, including specific measures in access controls, such as avoiding the use of discriminatory or sexist criteria. For example, different prices according to sex or discounts only for girls. Also, limiting access to people who are observed to have harassing or disrespectful attitudes and behaviour outside the venue.
